THE 2021 VINTAGE
After a mild and relatively dry winter, the growing season began at the usual time for the Tuscan area. On April 8th, a late frost with temperatures below 4°C affected the lower and middle zones of the Montalcino vineyards, damaging the buds, significantly delaying vegetative growth, and reducing yields by about 10–15% at harvest time. Spring and June saw little rainfall and mild temperatures; from mid-July, temperatures began to rise but never reached scorching levels. August and all of September were very warm, with little rain and constant southern winds.
TASTING NOTES
An intense, elegant, and well-balanced Brunello. Ruby red with slight garnet reflections. On the nose, it stands out for its sweet and fruity aroma with notes of plum, ripe cherry, and small red fruits, perfectly balanced with hints of licorice and pipe tobacco. Soft, polished tannins are well integrated with a marked acidity that gives this Brunello a lively and powerful structure. A wine with excellent persistence and great aging potential.

THE 2020 VINTAGE
Mild temperatures and low rainfall during the winter and spring periods favoured the early vegetative development of the vines. In the month of June there was various rainfall, accompanied by mild temperatures, which allowed for a surprising vegetative-productive balance of the vineyards. The other summer months were hot and sunny, allowing for perfect veraison and ripening of the grapes. Harvesting took place earlier than normal. The grapes, in a perfect state, thanks to good diurnal temperature ranges and the absence of rain, presented excellent aromatic profiles and good acidity
TASTING NOTES
An intense, elegant and well-balanced Brunello. Ruby red with slight garnet highlights. On the nose, it is distinguished by a sweet, fruity aroma with hints of redcurrant and blackberry, perfectly balanced with notes of liquorice and pipe tobacco. THE 2017 VINTAGE
In the spring, temperatures were in the norm, and the growing season had a regular start. April and May, which were mild with very little rain, were followed initially by a temperate summer without rain. From July onwards, there was a gradual rise in temperatures, peaking in the second half of August, resulting in an acceleration of ripening times, that, however, realigned with the period, thanks to the rainfall at the beginning of September. The harvest took place in optimal conditions, giving us a Sangiovese at the peak of its expression.
TASTING NOTES
An intense, elegant and balanced Brunello. Ruby red with light garnet-colored nuances. On the nose, it is distinguished by a sweet and fruity bouquet with decisive hints of red berry jam, perfectly balanced with notes of licorice and pipe tobacco. 2015
THE 2015 VINTAGE
2015 will certainly be included among the great harvests of Montalcino. The copious winter and spring rains, alternating with sunny and breezy days, ensured proper water storage in the ground, together with a homogenous growth of the grapes in the months of May and June. The summer period, with rather high temperatures, favored the regular development of the grape. At the same time, the ripening took place gradually and perfectly thanks to the good day/night temperature ranges. The almost total absence of rain, both during the ripening and the harvest, and the mild temperatures of September, as well as facilitating the harvest operations, preserved the health of the grapes.
TASTING NOTES
Huge potential for this elegant and powerful Brunello. Deep red with garnet nuances, the nose reveals its complexity with aromas of plum, ripe cherry and small red fruits that perfectly combine with those of licorice and tobacco. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with pleasant and soft tannins. Intense finish and great persistence.

THE 2014 VINTAGE
A rainy and cold year for which the maniacal selection of the grapes from the vineyard already was fundamental. We managed the operation of defoliation, which allowed the grapes a good ventilation and during the harvest, we often made a double passage in the same vineyard. Even in the cellar we worked with the utmost care, our state-of-the-art sorting systems allowed us to work only the best grapes, moreover, a very short post-fermentative maceration prevented the extraction of unripe tannins.
TASTING NOTES
The result is an elegant and balanced Brunello, characterized by a sweet, rich and complex aroma of fruit jam. A wine with great structure that is well balanced by a good softness and acidity on the final. Extremely persistent with excellent aging potential.

The growing cycle began with a significant delay, with some rains during the Spring. June was marked by cooler temperatures, under the seasonal average. August and September were hot and dry, but the ripening, despite two weeks'delay, have been supported by water reserves of the previous months. Summer nights were characterized by cooler temperatures, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the grapes. From the end of September, rainfall was abundant, causing problems during the ripening, without affecting the vineyards.
TASTING NOTES
The correct grapes maturation has taken the wine to have soft tannins, consequently it is well balanced and elegant.

THE 2011 VINTAGE
The vine's growth cycle started at the right time with a climate particularly mild and dry in the months of April and May. The sunny days of June were then followed by copious rainfall in the middle of July, resulting also in significant drop in temperatures. The climate conditions in early August were pretty cool, but the region was then covered by an anti-cyclone weather pattern originating from Africa, which led to a spike in temperatures, reaching well above the average for the period and lasting for around two weeks. Therefore hydric stress accelerated the ripening. September and October were sunny and dry with very hot temperatures.
TASTING NOTES
The colour is deep garnet red. The nose is sweet and characterised by delicate hints of jam, plum, ripe cherry, liquorice and tobacco, perfectly harmonised with a light and elegant note of leather. The structure is powerful and reveals the presence of silky, sweet tannins. The finish superbly demonstrates the persistence of a great wine characterised by extraordinary ageing potential.

THE 2010 VINTAGE
The growing season started slightly late, followed by abundant rain in May and June. Temperatures in June were cool and well below seasonal averages; n the beginning of July the temperatures began to warm up and became quite hot by mid-month. Temperatures cooled down again in August again with notably cool nights, which significantly contributed to the quality of the fruit, both in terms of aromas and natural acids. From the middle of August through the months of September and October rainfall was scarce, resulting in an excellent harvest.
TASTING NOTES
We can consider 2010 a unique vintage, in which all the phases, from the vegetative one, to che ripening and the harvesting of grapes, took place with the uniqueness that only exceptional vintages can give us. For Brunello di Montalcino this is a vintage to be counted among the historical ones.

THE 2009 VINTAGE
The spring start to the growing cycle was marked by abundant rainfall, which helped provide high levels of water reserves. The rainy phase went on until mid-July, with temperatures particularly cool and well below the seasonal norm. After mid July, the weather stayed warm and dry; in this phase, the vines could take advantage of the water reserves accumulated during the spring. Relatively cool nighttime temperatures allowed for the gradual development of aromatics and polyphenols, enhancing the overall quality of the grapes. The harvest went smoothly thanks to dry, warm and sunny days in September and October.
The structure is big yet, thanks to the ideal ripening, simultaneously it is smooth, well balanced and harmonious.
TASTING NOTES
The color is deep, with garnet-red nuances. The bouquet is complex, with notes of plum jam, tobacco and little of licorice. The structure is powerful with silky tannins, which fill up without being aggressive. It is very persistent in the finish and it shows a huge potentiality for a long aging.

THE 2008 VINTAGE
The winter, with rainfall well above the seasonal average and quite mild temperatures, was followed by normal spring conditions. Some rainfall marked the months of May and June, along with relatively cool temperatures through mid-July. The hail storm which took place on Ferragosto (August 15th) only partially effected our vineyards, sparing the choicest fruit and impacting production with only a small decrease in quantity. Compared to recent years, all phases of the growing season were delayed, including the harvest, which took place two weeks late but under optimal conditions.
TASTING NOTES
Fine ruby-red colour. A complex bouquet with aromas of plum and ripe cherry that, with a brief aeration, give way to notes of coffee, liquorice and tobacco. The structure is full, with well-rounded tannins supported by a lively acidity, which imparts freshness and length. Suitable for long ageing.

THE 2007 VINTAGE
Thanks to a mild winter, the growing season started early, with anticipated flowering. Heavy rainfall in late May and early June provided sufficient water reserves in the soil to endure a mid-June heat wave. Harvest started about one week ahead of time yet still lasted into mid October without any difficulties, thanks to ideal fall weather.
A cru of our best vineyards immediately surrounding the historic Poggio alle Mura castle today known as Castello Banfi, and planted with our carefully researched clones of Sangiovese. In 2007 the new micro-winery, dubbed Horizon, was inaugurated, representing increased attention to detail in both the vineyard and winery, and an artisan's approach to winemaking.
TASTING NOTES
Intense red color, with a ruby shade. The aromas are very complex and soft, with notes of plum jam, ripe cherry and red fruit, all well-integrated with hints of licorice and tobacco. THE 2005 VINTAGE
A classic of Banfi's production in Montalcino. The regular spring weather was marked by a hailstorm, which nevertheless led to a reduction in production in only a few vineyards. Temperatures during the summer months were average, with an unusually cool August, which meant that ripening took place gradually, preventing the vines from suffering water stress. With the exception of the first week, September was warm and sunny, so the harvest could take place in optimal conditions.
TASTING NOTES

The growing season began with regular vegetative activity, characterised by good spring rainfall which helped to replenish the water tables. The summer proved to be cooler than those of recent years and, more importantly, the temperature fluctuations between day and night were much greater. This last aspect in particular favoured gradual and balanced ripening.
TASTING NOTES
Dark red colour with garnet highlights. On the nose, a sweet, complex aroma is perceived, with a slight presence of jam that blends well with the fruity hints of ripe plum and cherry, and the more complex, spicy notes of liquorice, tobacco and leather. THE 2003 VINTAGE
The seasonal conditions were marked by an intense spring frost and by one of the most severe heat waves in European history. Fortunately, the heavy rainfall of the previous winter allowed for abundant water reserves in the soil, thus avoiding the risk of hydric stress for the plants. The spring frost, combined with the hot summer, allowed for a rich and concentrated fruit, and a significant temperature variation between daytime and night added finesse and complexity. The exceptionally healthy berries of this vintage allowed an optimal quality in the harvest.

THE 2002 VINTAGE
Between August and September, there was heavy rainfall which somewhat interrupted what a hot and dry start to the season had suggested would be a vintage of exceptional quality. The rain partly hindered harvesting operations without, however, affecting the health of the vineyards. This was made possible thanks to the early harvest and, above all, the layout of our systems. Indeed, featuring wide spaces between the rows, our vineyards allowed for optimal air circulation, protecting the grapes from the risk of mould.
TASTING NOTES
Deep red colour with garnet nuances. On the nose, a sweet aroma is immediately perceived with a slight note of tobacco that blends well with the fruity scents of plum and marasca cherry. A slight hint of leather is also present. The structure is well-matured and characterised by significant tannins, albeit not aggressive. Long on the finish.

THE 2001 VINTAGE
. The vintage was marked by a severe spring frost, which significantly reduced production. Some rainfall characterised the end of June, proving very important for replenishing water reserves. As always, the intense heat arrived mainly at the end of July, but, unlike the previous year, it appeared gradually enough to allow the plants to adapt well. Conditions during the harvest were optimal.
TASTING NOTES
Deep, intense colour. The aroma, thanks to the delicate presence of wood, is sweet and well integrated with the fruity notes. On the palate it is full, velvety, with soft and silky tannins. On the finish it is very persistent, suitable for long ageing.

THE 2000 VINTAGE
A rainy winter and a cool spring allowed optimal development of the grapes until summer. In mid-August, temperatures rose suddenly and remained at extremely high levels for many days (maximum temperatures of 37 degrees and nighttime lows of 20 degrees). The plants were consequently subjected to considerable stress and a strong acceleration in sugar ripening. These adverse conditions made this vintage one of the most complex in the company's history, making it necessary to carefully manage both the vineyard and cellar phases. All stages of the harvest were brought forward and gathering was carried out exclusively in the early, cool hours of the day, while in the cellar both fermentation times and temperatures were reduced. Thanks to these measures, it was possible to preserve the freshness of the fruit and its structure while safeguarding the positive characteristics present in the first part of the seasonal cycle.
TASTING NOTES
The colour is lovely, deep and intense. The aroma is sweet, with wood present but not overpowering, well blended with fruity notes. On the palate it is full, smooth, with tannins that are not aggressive thanks to the selective extraction described above. Very long and with a very sweet finish.

1999
THE 1999 VINTAGE
A textbook example of a great vintage. The entire season presented optimal conditions for the vine, offering outstanding results for both early and later maturing varieties. Winter rainfall supplied sufficient water reserves that benefited the plant over a summer that was hot but not torrid. Over a cool spring the vines developed balance that they maintained into the autumn. Light mid-summer rainfall helped stabilize the plant's metabolism and develop ideal tannins and phenols, resulting in deeply colored wines. A balanced variation between day and night temperatures allowed the grapes to develop intense varietal aromas and remain in perfect condition for harvest.
TASTING NOTES
Deep red color, with a garnet hue. The aromas are very complex, with hints of plum jam, tobacco, and a note of licorice. Characterized by a powerful but soft structure, on the palate it is full and harmonious, with a very persistent finish. A Brunello di Montalcino ideal for a long aging.

1998
THE 1998 VINTAGE
The 1998 vintage was characterised by particularly dry weather conditions during the summer. The high temperatures at the end of July and mid-August had a major influence on grape quality. Consequently, the vegetative growth of the vine was more restricted, and the size of the berries was also smaller than in previous years. The higher proportion of skin and pips compared to pulp affected the vinification phase, as in this type of situation the tannic risk increases significantly; to prevent this, the maceration time was reduced and the pips were removed as far as possible.
TASTING NOTES
Deep garnet red colour with orange highlights, complex on the nose with hints of jam, ripe blackberry, blueberries and slight but significant notes of black olive and pipe tobacco. The high concentration of norisoprenoids suggests that the bouquet is destined to increase in finesse, elegance and intensity thanks to the crucial period of bottle ageing. The body is muscular, typical of the vintage, but the tannin, an expression of the full body, is of exceptional quality, resulting silky, smooth and enveloping. Long with a sweet finish is the palate of this 1998 Brunello di Montalcino.

A Supertuscan that perfectly combines the best tradition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with the territory of Montalcino.
TASTING NOTES
Deep and intense red colour. Very complex bouquet of aromas, initially featuring notes of raspberry and liquorice; the oak is present, but discreet and clean, with notes of vanilla. Just a moment of patience and other aromas open up: coffee, hazelnut and plum jam. The powerful, muscular structure feels gentle on the palate thanks to the sweet and soft tannins. It has a long finish, with spicy and jammy notes: a sign of greatness and great longevity

1996
THE 1996 VINTAGE
Vintage 1996 is not considered to be one of the best in terms of weather, which allowed for a greater productivity. Spring saw a good flowering without frosts and therefore greater quantities of fruit. Some excessive harvest rains compromised the otherwise optimal development of color, tannins and general good condition of the grape. Careful selection allowed for an elegant wine though not one destined for lengthy aging.

THE 1994 VINTAGE
Spring weather conditions were optimal, thanks to cool temperatures and heavy rainfall. The summer, which was very hot and dry, did however cause some water stress phenomena. The rainfall that occurred in the first few days of September in no way affected the grape harvest.
TASTING NOTES
Notes of tar, chocolate and plums, combined with intriguing spicy hints from the ageing in wood. A great structure of refined tannins integrates well into the fullness and body of the wine, leaving a harmonious and persistent finish. Finally, the water stress caused by the hot summer favoured the production of wines endowed with great concentration.
