The mild winter and an extraordinarily warm April led to a slightly earlier budbreak. May and June were marked by abundant rainfall and lower-than-average temperatures, followed by a scorching July and August, where extreme heat inhibited photosynthesis and delayed ripening. In early September, temperatures suddenly dropped below the seasonal norm, accompanied by frequent rainfall. This unusual climatic pattern has resulted in fresher wines, lower in alcohol and concentration, yet displaying surprisingly refined tannins.

The winter was mild, with temperatures slightly above seasonal averages. The early days of April were marked by cold snaps, causing some damage to budding, which only marginally affected Sangiovese. The pink note of the Centine family: an excellent balance between versatility and impressive aromatic expression.
TASTING NOTES
The mild winter temperatures and low rainfall allowed the vines to begin the growing cycle within the standard timeframe. During the night of April 8, some vineyards were hit by a late frost, which delayed the phenological phases of the vines. However, thanks to mild temperatures and sunny days in the spring, the vines were able to regain their growth and production balance, reaching excellent ripening during the following months. The harvest began slightly later than usual, but the continuous ventilation and good temperature fluctuations in August and September allowed the grapes to develop excellent acidity with very interesting aromatic profiles.

A perfect mix of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon that gives life to an immediate and extremely versatile wine.
TASTING NOTES
The mild temperatures and the scarcity of rainfall in the winter, as well as then in the spring, led to an early growth development of the vines. In June, there was repeated rain with mild temperatures, which allowed for a surprising vegetative-productive balance of the vineyards. During the following summer months, the warm temperatures and the sunny weather allowed for perfect veraison and ripening of the grapes. The harvest took place earlier than usual. The grapes were in perfect condition and, thanks to the good temperature ranges and the absence of rain, presented excellent aromatic profiles and good acidity.

THE 2016 VINTAGE
From the perfect marriage of innovation and tradition comes a Rosso di Montalcino of great elegance.
TASTING NOTES
The growing season began about 10 days early after a winter characterized by mild temperatures. Spring rains radically changed the physiological pattern of our vineyards, slowing down the vegetative cycles. From the second decade of June a gradual rise in temperatures affected the entire southern part of Tuscany until the end of July. In August there were significant temperature swings and absence of rain, optimal conditions for both white and red grapes to close ripening. September was sunny and dry, but a rainy area took over at the end of the month, slowing down the last phase of harvest. Harvesting began a week late due to spring rains that made up for the initial vegetative advance.
Thanks to the high temperatures in late summer, the ripening process accelerated considerably, which in turn resulted in a wine with great personality.

THE 2015 VINTAGE
From the perfect marriage of innovation and tradition comes a Rosso di Montalcino of great elegance.
TASTING NOTES
Fair spring rains well replenished the aquifers so that water was never in short supply during the hot summer months. A very hot month of July fostered the conditions for excellent ripening, which was followed by a hot August, but with excellent temperature swings between day and night, a factor that benefited the quality of the grapes enormously, both in the aromas of the whites and for the synthesis of polyphenols in the reds. September of rare beauty, sunny and dry with warm temperatures that allowed us to complete ripening and harvest under optimal conditions.
The growing season began with a slight delay, and the spring was characterized by a very rainy May and June; June temperatures were very cool and well below seasonal averages; from the beginning of July temperatures began to rise until they became torrid in the second week of the month; August saw temperatures drop again and nights were very cool and this benefited the quality of the grapes tremendously. From mid-August throughout September and October there was very little rainfall, facilitating harvesting operations.

THE 2014 VINTAGE
From the perfect marriage of innovation and tradition comes a Rosso di Montalcino of great elegance.
The growing season began slightly early with a spring characterized by very rainy months. Temperatures in the summer months were cool and well below seasonal averages, never reaching the levels of previous vintages. The rains partly hindered harvesting operations without, however, affecting the phytosanitary state of the vineyards, thanks both to the earliness of the harvest and to the structure of the plantings: in fact, the wide spaces between the rows allowed optimal airflow circulation, substantially sheltering the grapes from the risks of mold and rot.

The growing cycle began with a significant delay, with some rains during the Spring. June was marked by cooler temperatures, under the seasonal average. August and September were hot and dry, but the ripening, despite two weeks delay, have been supported by water reserves of the previous months. Summer nights were characterized by cooler temperatures, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the grapes. From the end of September, rainfall was abundant, causing problems during the repining, without affecting the vineyards.

THE 2012 VINTAGE
The growing cycle began in the usual time frame, with dry weather in April and May. June was marked by cooler temperature and a lack of rainfall. Summer saw a return to regular avarage temperatures in July through mid-August, when a sudden heat wave raised temperatures over 40°C (104°F) through the end of the month. A sun-drenched September, with normal average temperatures, allowed for a good harvest.
TASTING NOTES
The growing season began in the usual time, and spring was characterized by mild and dry April and May; cool and rainfall-free June; sunny July, with temperatures in the normal range, which rose above 40°c from Ferragosto for the next ten days; and sunny September, with temperatures falling back into seasonal averages.

THE 2011 VINTAGE
The vine's growth cycle started at the right time with a climate particularly mild and dry in the months of April and May. The sunny days of June were then followed by copious rainfall in the middle of July, resulting also in significant drop in temperatures. The climate conditions in early August were pretty cool, but the region was then covered by an anti-cyclone weather pattern originating from Africa, which led to a spike in temperatures, reaching well above the average for the period and lasting for around two weeks. Therefore hydric stress accelerated the ripening. September and October were sunny and dry with very hot temperatures.
The high temperature during the end of summer, favored a great maturation of the grapes, giving us a wine with personality.
