    THE 2022 VINTAGE

The growing season started at the usual time following a winter typical of our area with minimum temperatures below freezing in the first three months of the year. Budburst occurred a few days ahead of local standards. In the first four months of the year, rainfall was below average with around one hundred and seventy mm from January to April. Spring was dry with temperatures a few degrees above the seasonal average, especially in May. In summer, the lack of rain and scorching temperatures characterised June, July and a large part of August. Thanks to the rain at the end of August and the beginning of September, there was no dehydration of the grapes and the good diurnal temperature range favoured the synthesis of aromas and preserved acidity. Harvesting of the Sangiovese from our vineyard in Castellina began on the twenty-first of September.

    TASTING NOTES

Ruby red colour with slight garnet reflections; on the nose, it stands out for a sweet and fruity aroma with hints of redcurrant and blackberry accompanied by notes of liquorice. Soft and smooth tannins are well integrated with a pronounced acidity that gives this Chianti Classico a lively and powerful structure. A wine with excellent persistence and great ageing potential.

    THE 2021 VINTAGE

After a mild winter with little rain, the growing season began in the usual time frame for the Tuscany area. On April 8, a late frost with temperatures below 4°C affected the lower-middle belt of the Montalcino vineyard area, damaging shoots, significantly delaying plant phenology and reducing yields by about 10-15% at harvest. The hardest hit varieties were early budding varieties such as sangiovese; almost the entire estate ampelographic landscape was affected by this weather event. Spring and June were characterized by little rainfall but mild temperatures within the seasonal average; from mid-July temperatures began to rise without ever becoming torrid. August and all of September proved to be very hot, months with above-normal temperatures, continuous southerly ventilation and limited rainfall. Harvesting of the red varieties began in early September, Sangiovese about two weeks later, concluding in mid-October with the late varieties. However, the quality of the harvested grapes was of a good standard.

    TASTING NOTES

The hot summer, but with good temperature excursions, favored the synthesis of very elegant aromas and an important structure Ruby red color with mauve undertones; bouquet with complex hints of ripe fruit, morello cherry, dried flowers and a light spicy note. Nice structure, soft and powerful. Excellent long and persistent finish in the mouth.

    THE 2020 VINTAGE

The growing season started about 10 days early after a winter characterized by mild temperatures. Spring rains changed the physiological pattern of our vineyards, slowing down the vegetative cycles. From the second decade of June a gradual rise in temperatures affected the entire southern part of Tuscany until the end of July. In August there was a further rise in temperatures that greatly anticipated the harvest time of the white grapes, but thanks to the good temperature ranges and the absence of rain we obtained very interesting aromatic profiles and preserved the acidity of our grapes. Harmonious vintage since the first summer months that favored, thanks to important temperature excursions, an ideal ripening of the red varieties that organoleptically expresses itself with fruity aromas and a beautiful tannic structure, without flowing into overripeness.

    TASTING NOTES

The color is ruby red with mauve nuances. The wine has a clear note of cherry and plum, as well as a sweet spiciness on the finish. The structure is important, well-balanced and with a long, elegant end. Enjoyable right from the start, the excellent, well-integrated acidity makes it perfect for aging.

    THE 2019 VINTAGE

The extraordinarily cold weather in April and May caused a delay in the growing season, which was recuperated later, thanks to a warm and dry period. The sudden rise in temperature then favored the production of sparse and light grape bunches. August and September, sunny and without torrid temperatures, allowed for an optimal ripening of the grapes. A harvest which will go down in history, with grapes of high quality and an intense territorial personality which gave us wines with great structure and sapidity.

    THE 2014 VINTAGE

The growing season started slightly early with a spring characterised by very rainy months. The summer temperatures were cool and well below seasonal averages, never reaching the levels of previous years; the weather events and temperatures delayed ripening by about 10 days. A cool start to September, but undisturbed by significant rain, allowed us to harvest the grapes without major problems. In the last decade of the month, temperatures rose, enabling the grapes to complete their ripening. A vintage with no shortage of problems due to the climatic trends, but the sorting operations carried out both in the vineyard and in the cellar made it possible to obtain products superior to expectations.

    TASTING NOTES

Ruby red with mauve highlights; a bouquet characterised by a clear note of cherry and plum, alongside a sweet hint of cream and a touch of leather. A substantial structure, yet well-proportioned and balanced; a long, elegant finish. Thanks to an acidity that is slightly above average, albeit well integrated, it will have a remarkable ageing potential.

    THE 2013 VINTAGE

The growing cycle began with a significant delay, with some rains during the Spring. June was marked by cooler temperatures, under the seasonal average. August and September were hot and dry, but the ripening, despite two weeks delay, have been supported by water reserves of the previous months. Summer nights were characterized by cooler temperatures, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the grapes. From the end of September, rainfall was abundant, causing problems during the repining, without affecting the vineyards.

    TASTING NOTES

Deep mauve red, complex hints of plum and blackberry jam, spices, and also leather. Substantial structure, but not aggressive, with well-integrated tannins. Persistent flavours in the mouth. Excellent ageing potential
