From July 7 to 11, 2025, Montalcino will host the eighth edition of the Summer School Sanguis Jovis, the advanced training program promoted by Banfi Foundation and entirely dedicated to the culture of Sangiovese.

A focus on Heritage

Entitled “Heritage. The frontier of value between terroir and storytelling”, the 2025 edition explores the significance of historical, genetic, and cultural heritage in the wine world. The past becomes a strategic lever for building a contemporary narrative around Sangiovese, through a program combining lectures, case studies, guided tastings, and insights from international experts.

A rich and multidisciplinary program

Over the five-day course, participants will hear from leading voices in academia, scientific research, viticulture, and marketing. Key topics include:

  • viticultural vocation and vineyard zoning;

  • grape genetics and varietal improvement;

  • sustainability and vineyard innovation;

  • storytelling and wine communication.

Sessions will be held at both the OCRA center and the Castle of Poggio alle Mura, Banfi’s historic estate, where participants will enjoy an immersive experience among vineyards, winery, and territory.

A unique educational opportunity

Led by Attilio Scienza (President) and Alberto Mattiacci (Director), the Summer School is a benchmark for training young professionals in the wine industry, encouraging continuous dialogue between research, business, and culture.

Waiting Jazz and Wine

On April 30 marks International Jazz Day,a celebration of an art form that unites cultures, moves emotions, and inspires through its creative power.

It’s an occasion that feels especially close to us: each year, the connection between music and our land comes to life with Jazz & Wine in Montalcino, the historic festival that brings together leading international jazz artists and Banfi’s winemaking excellence.

The 2025 edition will take place from Tuesday, July 22 to Sunday, July 27, 27 July, in the enchanting settings of Castello di Poggio alle Mura and the Montalcino Fortress.

On the occasion of the Earth Day, Banfi presents its 10th Sustainability Report, reaffirming the company's deep-rooted commitment to the values of respect for the environment, people, and the community.

Summer School Sanguis Jovis 2025

Heritage: the frontier of value between terroir and storytelling

From July 7 to 11, 2025, the eighth edition of the Sanguis Jovis Summer School returns to Montalcino, promoted by the Banfi Foundation. This one-of-a-kind program in Italy offers a unique opportunity for education, culture, and networking, aimed at professionals and future leaders in the wine world.

An innovative format blending training and inspiration

The Summer School aims to train a new generation of wine professionals with a broad and contemporary vision—one that integrates production, sustainability, communication, and marketing. Participants—university students, PhD candidates, young professionals, and industry managers—will take part in an intensive, residential program with 50 hours of training, including lectures, round tables, field experiences, and informal discussions.

The 2025 Theme: Heritage

This year's edition will focus on heritage, understood as the cultural, natural, and economic legacy that defines the wine world. The school will explore how the past can be leveraged as a resource to shape the future, highlighting the relationship between terroir and storytelling.

The program, led by Professor Alberto Mattiacci with the scientific direction of Professor Attilio Scienza, includes faculty members from diverse academic fields—economics, marketing, biotechnology, anthropology—as well as key players from leading Italian wine companies.

Where and how to apply
The school will be held at OCRA – Officina Creativa dell’Abitare in Montalcino. A maximum of 20 participants will be selected, divided into two categories: Student and Professional. Applications must be submitted by June 16, 2025.

Scholarships and participation grants are available, made possible thanks to the support of companies in the wine supply chain.

Updated opening hours for the Enoteca and afternoon tours

With the arrival of spring, activities resume with updated times designed to offer an even more complete experience.

Starting march 21st, the Enoteca will remain open until 19:30 instead of 6:30 PM, giving guests more time to enjoy tastings and explore the full selection of available products.

Starting march 30, the afternoon tour will also shift slightly later, starting at 16:00 instead of 3:30 PM — a perfect time to enjoy the visit in the best light, among stories, aromas, and scenic views.
