    THE 2023 VINTAGE

The winter was mild, with temperatures slightly above seasonal averages. In early April, cold spells caused marginal damage to budding. Rainfall in the first four months of the year was slightly below average. In May and June, rainfall was extremely heavy, with a total of 200 millimeters and 28 days of rain out of 60. Fortunately, after the first few months of summer, the weather changed radically, with excellent sunshine and high temperatures. September was characterized by above-average temperatures and abundant winds from the north, with almost no rain.

    THE 2022 VINTAGE

The year 2022 was marked by a peculiar dry spell that began as early as late winter and persisted through most of the summer. A decisive turning point came in mid-August, when the first of a series of storms occurred that were providential for the most crucial period of grape ripening. The Bolgheri varieties showed that they were able to react very positively, on the one hand withstanding the initial lack of water and on the other metabolizing the rains as well and as quickly as possible, eventually allowing optimal ripening, especially for the less precocious varieties. The harvest started early, on average around the third week of August, and ended in late September. Contrary to initial summer expectations, the wines show non-excessive alcohol degrees, good acidity and extractions, and maintain the freshness and elegance that are typical of Bolgheri wines.

The extraordinarily cold weather in April and May caused a delay in the growing season, which was recuperated later, thanks to a warm and dry period. The sudden rise in temperature then favored the production of sparse and light grape bunches. August and September, sunny and without torrid temperatures, allowed for an optimal ripening of the grapes. A harvest which will go down in history, with grapes of high quality and an intense territorial personality which gave us wines with great structure and sapidity.

    THE 2015 VINTAGE

The growing cycle began slightly in advance, with a very rainy and cool spring. The summer temperatures were fresh and well below the seasonal average, consequently, the maturations of the grapes took place with a delay of about 10 days. The harvest of early varieties was facilitated by rather beautiful days of the beginning of September, while late varieties enjoyed a rise in temperatures in the last decade of the month, which allowed for a full ripening of the grapes.

This vintage was characterized by difficult climate conditions. Yet, thanks to the ocean influence, we could achieve a good quality.

    TASTING NOTES

Deep and intense ruby red. The nose is fruity and sweet, with the hints of jam accompanied by more complex notes of pepper and tobacco. In the mouth, it is powerful and well concentrated. Enjoyable since now but also suitable for medium to long-aging.

    THE 2013 VINTAGE

The growing cycle began with a significant delay, with some rains during the Spring. June was marked by cooler temperatures, under the seasonal average. August and September were hot and dry, but the ripening, despite two weeks delay, have been supported by water reserves of the previous months. Summer nights were characterized by cooler temperatures, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the grapes. From the end of September, rainfall was abundant, causing problems during the repining, without affecting the vineyards.

    TASTING NOTES

The temperate climate of the year, together with the influence of the sea near the Bolgheri area, gave us a fruity, elegant and mature wine.

The color is red and deep. The aromas are complex and characterized by hints of currant, blueberry, plum jam together with pleasant complex notes of tobacco and licorice. The structure is strong and full, but at the same time it reveals softness and maturity. Thanks to sweet and elegant tannins, it results very persistent in the finish. Summer saw a return to regular avarage temperatures in July through mid-August, when a sudden heat wave raised temperatures over 40°C (104°F) through the end of the month. A sun-drenched September, with normal average temperatures, allowed for a good harvest.

    THE 2011 VINTAGE

The vine's growth cycle started at the right time with a climate particularly mild and dry in the months of April and May. The sunny days of June were then followed by copious rainfall in the middle of July, resulting also in significant drop in temperatures. The climate conditions in early August were pretty cool, but the region was then covered by an anti-cyclone weather pattern originating from Africa, which led to a spike in temperatures, reaching well above the average for the period and lasting for around two weeks. Therefore hydric stress accelerated the ripening. September and October were sunny and dry with very hot temperatures.

The high temperature during the end of summer, favored a great maturation of the grapes, giving us a wine with personality.

    TASTING NOTES

Deep red color. Attractive aromas, with notes of berries, accompanied with hints of licorice, sandal, tobacco and coffee. In the mouth the structure is powerful, very soft and gentle, thanks to matured tannins. A good acidity permits a persistent final, favoring a great balance.

The start of the growing season was slightly delayed, with abundant spring rainfall and temperatures in May and June well below the seasonal average. The weather was warm and dry from mid-June through August, when temperatures dropped again. Cool nights helped the development of aromatics and the synthesis of polyphenols in the grapes, enhancing the overall quality of the bouquet and the wine's acidity. Scarce rainfall allowed for ideal harvest conditions.

    TASTING NOTES

Elegant aromas thanks to the dropping temperature during August, which favored a major aromatic synthesis.
