Winery of Knowledge
After a rather rainy spring and early summer, the months of September and October were very good, with lots of sun and excellent ventilation. These climatic conditions favored a gradual and late ripening of the grapes, which were presented in excellent quality conditions, with wonderfully intense varietal aromas and a good balance between alcohol and acidity.
A long aging wine that perfectly pairs with rich and complex dishes. Also indicated as a meditation wine.

THE 2019 VINTAGE
A Banfi family jewel, Brunello Poggio all'Oro is produced exclusively in the great vintages.
TASTING NOTES
The 2019 season was marked by extraordinary cold in April and May, which delayed vegetative development. However, this was later recovered thanks to a warm and dry period. The sudden increase in temperatures then encouraged the production of loose and light grape clusters. The sunny months of August and September, without scorching temperatures, allowed for optimal grape ripening.
After perfect spring conditions, summer was very hot and dry. The drought continued well into the harvest season, resulting in grapes that had high concentration of fruit but some immature tannins – making a wine with great structure and body, but rustic character when young.
TECHNICAL DATA
alcohol 15%
Yield per hectare 40-50 q/ha.

Aging 80% in French oak casks (90-60 hl.) and 20% in French oak barriques (350 l.) for 30 months at least.
Soil area characterized by a large plateau on which the soils develop on brown clay silt sediments with stones and pebbles of different nature, of calcareous origin, well-structured and well-draining.

THE 2016 VINTAGE
The mild winter, with regular rainfall, encouraged an early bud break. The spring was rather wet with a drop in temperatures at the end of April, which slowed down the growth cycle, bringing it back to normal. From mid-June, and throughout the month of July, there was a gradual rise in temperatures. In August, the excellent temperature range and sporadic rain allowed for the perfect ripening of the grapes. In September, the temperatures were quite high with an excellent temperature range. Mid-month, a few days of abundant rain risked compromising the harvest, but the sudden weather improvement of the following days, the technical and cultivation interventions carried out in the vineyards and the careful selection of the grapes, both in the vineyard and in the winery, enabled to harvest the Sangiovese at its best expression. The excellent insolation in the summer, the good water availability, the important temperature ranges in the summer and the great selection effort determined the convergence of sugar and polyphenol maturation, so that at harvest the skins were already soft and ready to release color.

THE 2015 VINTAGE
2015 will certainly be included among the great harvests of Montalcino. The copious winter and spring rains, alternating with sunny and breezy days, ensured proper water storage in the ground, together with a homogenous growth of the grapes in the months of May and June. The summer period, with rather high temperatures, favored the regular development of the grape. At the same time, the ripening took place gradually and perfectly thanks to the good day/night temperature ranges. The almost total absence of rain, both during the ripening and the harvest, and the mild temperatures of September, as well as facilitating the harvest operations, preserved the health of the grapes.

A Banfi family jewel, Brunello Poggio all'Oro is produced exclusively in the great vintages.
TASTING NOTES
The vegetative season began at usual time, with a mild and dry spring. The summer was characterized by a beginning with no rainfall and cool temperatures that went up gradually in the months of July and August. A A sunny September with average temperatures favored the harvest operations.
The result is a particularly elegant and complex Brunello. The nose is expressed with intense hints of cherry and plum, accompanied by floral notes of violet and toasted coffee and chocolate. Excellent consistency that allows a long and excellent persistence. Perfect synthesis between power and elegance.

THE 2010 VINTAGE
The growing season started slightly late, followed by abundant rain in May and June. Temperatures in June were cool and well below seasonal averages; n the beginning of July the temperatures began to warm up and became quite hot by mid-month. Temperatures cooled down again in August again with notably cool nights, which significantly contributed to the quality of the fruit, both in terms of aromas and natural acids. From the middle of August through the months of September and October rainfall was scarce, resulting in an excellent harvest.
