    THE 2022 VINTAGE

Following a very dry winter, the vines budded in early April, about a week later than in 2021 and about two weeks later than in 2020. Shoot growth proceeded very slowly due to the lack of soil moisture. April and May passed with temperatures normal for the period, but with very little rainfall. Flowering took place regularly with excellent weather conditions, ending in the final days of May, with good fertility and fruit set. The absence of rain continued through June and July and while, on the one hand, this kept fungal infections in check, on the other hand, it caused concern for the ripening process. Towards the end of July and the beginning of August there were a few thunderstorms followed by two days of moderate rain which, combined with falling temperatures especially at night, revitalised the vegetation. The 2022 harvest therefore presented itself as being of very good quality, with peaks of excellence.

    TASTING NOTES

Red with purplish tinges, very intense and deep. The Lus, with its fresh and fruity aromas accompanied by notes of small red berries, evolves with notes of vanilla, tobacco and liquorice. On the palate it is of great structure, velvety, full and harmonious, with soft and silky tannins; persistent aftertaste with fruity notes of cherry. Enjoyable straight away while also capable of withstanding good ageing.

From the union of Barbera and Nebbiolo comes Albarossa, a new and captivating cross that uniquely reinterprets the Piedmontese terroir.

    THE 2021 VINTAGE

The winter was characterised by mild temperatures and average rainfall, which induced bud burst around mid-April. Flowering began in the first week of June, with a delay of about a week compared to last year due to the low temperatures recorded in April and May. The rise in temperatures and lack of rainfall in June and July caused slight water stress, but only in certain vineyards. Harvesting began in the last week of August and overall ripening was delayed by about 6 to 7 days compared to last year. The sunny weather in September and early October, accompanied by wide temperature ranges (even 13 to 15°C), led the grapes to perfect ripeness in both aromatic and polyphenolic terms. The 2021 harvest therefore proved to be excellent.

    TASTING NOTES

Ruby red with intense and deep violet hues. Lus, with its fresh and fruity aromas accompanied by notes of small red berries, evolves with notes of vanilla, tobacco and liquorice. On the palate it is of great structure, velvety, full and harmonious, with soft and silky tannins; persistent aftertaste with fruity notes of cherry. Enjoyable immediately but also capable of withstanding good ageing.
