The 2016 Banfi Sustainability Report meets the technical and methodological support of PWC, in respect of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines. Banfi, with the Sustainability Report, wishes to fully inform about the influence of its activities on the social and environmental context of the territory where it operates. In the last years, were made important organizational changes into the Banfi’s society structure, with the aim to maintain the right balance between the economic and social sustainability and the dream of realizing new projects.
In 2015, Banfi made the first report on social, environmental and economic themes by publishing the “number zero” of the Sustainability Report. With the publication of N. 1, which is addressed to all the stakeholders, the company desires to continue the process of reporting the CSR themes, in which it works hard day by day, as well as with the management of the relationships with its own stakeholders.
The document shows the varied reality of Banfi, which includes different business areas that are ascribable to the wine production and sales, as well as the hospitality. This is possible thanks to the central idea of Corporate Social Responsibility.
The data of the report were collected and verified by the different Function Managers who could use the corporate information system, besides the in-house papers available and any other official source.
For the editing of this first edition were identified seven themes to which is dedicated one chapter each. They were wrote following the identification of the reference stakeholders together with some index of performances expressing the distinctive elements.
The first Sustainability Report refers to the period that goes from January, 1s2016 and December, 31st2016. Where possible, the data and the information refer also to the two previous years (2015 and 2014) offering the possibility to make a comparison of 3-year period.
It is an annual financial report and it considers both Banfi Società Agricola S.r.l and Banfi S.r.l. for which is not suitable the consolidated financial statements so their economic and financial data come from the single financial statements.
To date Banfi manages over 1,000 hectares of vineyards in both Tuscany and Piedmont, with a turnover that in 2016 reached 72 million Euros, and its wines are in nearly 90 countries in the world.
