Behold the "Gladiator" of wines. Castello Banfi's proprietary cuveé, SummuS 1997, came away the victor at Atlanta's illustrious "Wine Oscars". The City Grill was the arena for this historic and very tough battle between several upscale reds from around the world, but SummuS managed to pummel the competition. Prior to the announcement of the winner, Wine Educator Anita LaRaia, nominated SummuS by stating "Gladiator won the movie Oscar, and this Gladiator wine-Castello Banfi's Super Tuscan SummuS 1997-has already won the popular vote for The Wine Oscars 2001 because you drank it all! This wine is so good that the judging crowd asked for seconds and thirds until there wasn't a drop left." The "Wine Oscars," sponsored by Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles Magazine, is a highlight of the prestigious High Museum of Art wine-focused fundraisers attracting thousands of wine lovers each year.
