The 2017 Banfi Sustainability Report, as for the previous two editions, is prepared with the technical-methodological support of PwC and its contents are based on the results of the dialogue with stakeholders, the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative G4 - Core option, as well as those of the sustainability rating.
The document refers to the two companies Banfi srl and Banfi Società Agricola srl, in the time period January-December 2017. Consolidated financial statements are not prepared for the two companies, so the relevant economic and financial data are acquired from the individual financial statements.
The data and information reported, where possible, also refer to the previous two financial years (2015 and 2016), thus offering the possibility of comparing data over an entire three-year period.
In 2015 Banfi started its journey of reporting on social, environmental and economic issues through the drafting of the "zero issue" of the Sustainability Report. With the drafting of the next two editions, the company continues the process of reporting on CSR issues, in the care of which it is engaged on a daily basis, as well as in the management of relations with its stakeholders.
Since the year of its birth, Banfi has understood the importance of the land as an element to be supported and enhanced with constant commitment. Wine, more than other products, in fact, intrinsically expresses the bond between the land and the skilful work of man. With this awareness, therefore, Banfi has operated by adopting a sustainable production system that is careful to safeguard the surrounding environment, preserving the heritage of the territory in its entirety: its culture, its history, its evolution.
The undisputed leadership role that Banfi has played in creating the extraordinary worldwide success of Brunello and Montalcino has passed seamlessly through support for the territory and its community.
The extraordinary success of Banfi wines could only be achieved by supporting its territory, the community of which it is an integral part.
Enrico Viglierchio and Remo Grassi, Presidents of the two societies referred to in the document, stated in their letter of introduction: 'Proud of the virtuous path that has led to the drafting of this document and, ever more convinced of the strength of this instrument to affirm the values and principles that guide us on our path, we thank all those who, with their daily commitment, make this possible.
The presentation of the third edition of the Sustainability Report 2017 was held on Thursday 13 September at Castello Banfi.
To date, Banfi manages 3,125 hectares of property between Tuscany and Piedmont, with a wine turnover, net of Intercompany, that reached 62.1 million euro in 2017, reaching 86 countries worldwide.
