Montalcino, Italy, October 20 – The Siena Prosecutor’s office has de-sequestered Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 2003 after determining that the wine fully corresponds to the rules of the Brunello di Montalcino appellation. Remaining stocks were cleared for shipment to world markets, satisfying demand not already met by the shipment of about half of the production earlier this year. The 2004 vintage will be released in February 2009, as regularly scheduled.
“This clearance closes the case for Castello Banfi Brunello,” said Castello Banfi family proprietor Cristina Mariani-May. “Our Brunello is liberated and we are pleased to continue the pursuit of excellence that we have always strived for.”
Castello Banfi is the first winery in the world to be awarded international recognition for exceptional environmental, ethical and social responsibility (ISO 14001 and SA8000) as well as an international leader in customer satisfaction (ISO 9001:2000).
