CASTELLO BANFI POGGIO ALL'ORO 2004: EARNS COVETED TRE BICCHIERI DESIGNATION IN NEW 2011 EDITION OF GAMBERO ROSSO

The results are now in: Castello Banfi Poggio all’Oro 2004 has earned Italy’s most prestigious wine award, a coveted Tre Bicchieri designation from the new 2011 edition of the Gambero Rosso Guide. 

“(Castello Banfi) makes a welcome return to the Tre Bicchieri with their Brunello Poggio all’ Oro 2004. Extremely elegant. An intense nose, with balsamic notes and hints of blackberry and cherry. Polished tannins and captivating progression with a strong, persistent finish. Also outstanding is the Brunello Poggio alle Mura 2005, among the best and most well made 2005 vintage Brunello di Montalcino.”

This latest accolade follows hot on the heels of news that the Castello Banfi Poggio all’Oro 2004 has also been honored with 5 Grappoli in the 2011 edition of Duemilavini, Bibenda - another highly regarded Italian wine review.This single-vineyard Poggio all’Oro Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Castello Banfi is a treasured rarity, made only in the finest vintages. Prior to this year’s release of the new 2004, the most recent vintage produced was five years ago in 1999.
