“La Lus”, the last born wine from Vigne Regali, the Piedmonts winery of the Banfi group, is the result of a huge project called “Albarossa”.
The Albarossa is a catchy, amazing, red grape that comes from the union between Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes. It was created in 1938 by Professor Dalmasso during some experiments with typical Piedmont varieties.
In 2001 four wineries among the most important in Piedmont, and Vigne Regali is one of them, took the decision in investing for carrying out tests on Albarossa. The results of that research were very positive and they confirmed, and enhanced, the feeling of a modern wine with a strong view impact capable of maintaining the full Piedmont typical character, both in the freshness than in the tannins. In 2006 the first vintage was vinified.
“La Lus” has an intense ruby red colour and it is a great expression of this innovative and traditional grape. A wine enjoyable since now, with round and soft tannins and with good potentiality for long ageing. The ageing happens for twelve months in French oak barrels followed by eight months in bottle.
Vigne Regali, once again, confirms its vocation for promoting the tipicity of the southern area of Piedmont and of all its wines, constantly attentive in capturing every change. A modern winery deeply rooted in the terroir for a wine keeping in it the entire most specific characteristics of the wines from Piedmont.
