Noma Bar's beautifully clean and essential lines embrace the bottle of Banfi's Vermentino wine: La Pettegola 2023 Limited Edition.
Banfi's adventure in the design world continues, and for the first time, it involves a non-Italian artist: Noma Bar, an Israeli artist based in London, was born in 1973. A designer, illustrator, and graphic designer, Bar's works were published in many international media channels, including BBC, Random House, The Observer, and The Economist. The use of sharp lines to bind the space, a feature that he calls "negative space", allows the viewer to imagine with the mind's eye and admire his artworks.
His collaborations with international brands range from campaigns for Greenpeace, Amnesty International, IBM, Coca-Cola and many others. His portraits of political figures, singers, and actors, as well as his illustrations of animals and fairy tale protagonists, are very famous.
With Banfi's La Pettegola Limited Edition, Noma Bar approached the world of wine for the first time. "I had never worked on a label or with augmented reality before," he stated. "But challenges like the ones offered by Banfi are the ones that I find most exciting. I wanted to combine my style with the world of La Pettegola, imagining a world where women gathered together to talk about their dreams, passions, and secrets in front of a glass of wine. Just like La Pettegola's details, their emotions are hidden in plain sight: the surprise created by looking closer makes design and life so special, after all."
Noma Bar's artwork depicts five female silhouettes who, at first glance, may appear to be an enigma, but at a closer look, show the most authentic details leading to the discovery that there is a bit of La Pettegola in each of them. A golden goblet, a tapered bottle, and a bird with outstretched wings. The artist turns the symbols of La Pettegola into distinctive signs for a label full of many different facets, all waiting to be discovered.
La Pettegola, produced for the first time in 2012, started boasting a limited edition in 2018 (only twenty thousand bottles were made in 2023) and was signed annually by internationally renowned artists and designers. The first label, in 2018, was designed by Alessandro Baronciani; in 2019, it was created by Ale Giorgini, followed by Riccardo Guasco in 2020, Elena Salmistraro in 2021, and Van Orton for the 2022 Edition.
On the occasion of the tenth Vermentino harvest by Banfi, a special limited-edition package with six Limited Editions was also in the works.
Also, for the 2023 edition, the Limited Edition label comes to life thanks to Augmented Reality: the five female silhouettes protagonists of the artwork come alive, expressing their thoughts and emotions.
