July is round the corner and for the 19th year in a roll, the Jazz & Wine Festival comes back to the famous Brunello di Montalcino vineyards. From July 12 to 17 , Italian and international worldwide famous musicians will celebrate the appointment between the most renowned jazz music and the high quality wine.
(Montalcino, May 26th, 2016) – The nineteenth edition of Jazz&Wine in Montalcino, one of Italy's enduring music festivals and a collaboration between the Castello Banfi vineyard estate of Montalcino, the Rubei Family of the Alexanderplatz in Rome and the Township of Montalcino, will take place from July 12 to July 17 with a prestigious gathering of top artists from Italy and the world.
The opening concert of the festival, with the piano player Johnny O’ Neal’s Trio, will take place in the historic walls of Castello Banfi on Tuesday July 12th. From July 13th the festival will move to the fourteenth-century Montalcino fortress with a big band – 20 elements - born to celebrate this festival, so famous worldwide: the Jazz & Wine Orchestra, directed by Mario Corvini (ft. Ronnie CuberandSusanna Stivali).
On Thursday July 14th the festival will continue with Ronnie Cuber and theTonino Horta Quintet. OnFriday July 15th on the Montalcino stage Bobo Rondelli will represent his theater pièce “Ciampi ve lo faccio vedere io”. On Saturday July 16th the festival proposes the sax of Gaetano Partipilo in “Besides Live” with Simona Bencini, the memorable voice from the Dirotta su Cuba band, as special guest. On Sunday July 17th a grand finale with the quintet of the famous Italian jazz artist, Paolo Fresu Quintet, having his debut in the Jazz&Wine in Montalcino festival.
The forthcoming festival edition also presents some interesting news. Throughout the opening concert of the Jazz&Wine, on July 12th at Castello Banfi, there will be held a show of design artworks realized by six worldwide famous designers who worked in collaboration with Tuscan marble and metal leader producers during the “Montalcino Wine and Design Week”. Designers’ works - also exhibited at the OCRA location in Montalcino and Castello Banfi during the days of the festival - will be sold at the auction sale in London during the Fashion & Design Week next September. This project is the result of the collaboration among Banfi, Matter of Stuff (a London based design platform, established in 2014 by the architects Simona Autieri and Sofia Steffenoni) and OCRA (Officina Creativa dell'Abitare, an art and culture laboratory and a solid reference point in Montalcino where are raised up talents and ideas connected to the territory).
For the nineteenth consecutive year two such intimate and intense pleasures, jazz music and great wine, come together to celebrate the growing success with their fans in Montalcino, the emblematic city of Brunello.
The pairing of Jazz&Wine in Montalcino with two of Italy's oldest Italian Jazz&Wine festivals, Zola Jazz&Wine and Jazz&Wine of Peace (Cormòns), has been renewed, offering a unique opportunity to compare diverse areas and producers that bear a common passion for great jazz.
The festival is also a tribute to the memory of the beloved Giampiero Rubei, creator, heart and soul of Jazz&Wine. His music dream continues through the hands and the ideas of his son, Paolo Rubei, who has become the festival Art Director after him.
